I apologize for the delay! The schedule post did not work properly.

Tryout information

* Students need to leave campus between school and auditions. 

* We will unlock the NORTH school doors for the students at 3:00 pm so that they can start prepping for auditions (draw numbers, fill out papers, etc.)

* We will start warming up about 3:15, we plan to have the first group auditioning by 3:30.  Unless excused please wait in case we have call backs. 

* Results will be posted Sunday at 4 pm on the blog.

*Practice for those who make it will begin Monday. 

What if I make the team

School: 

• School is your priority. You are a student first, an athlete second. 

Practices: 

• Beginning Oct 9, 2017 practices will be every Monday, and Wednesday starting at 6:30AM on the bridge, and every Friday after school starting promptly at 2:15PM in the gym. 
• After Thanksgiving morning practice times will be changed to 6:15AM. 

Performances: 

• Assembly and half-time performance dates are given to you as soon as they have been set. 
• Half-time show scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 2nd. 

Competitions(Tentative) 

• January 27, 2018*School break(Martin Luther King Day) 
• February 10, 2018 
• February 24, 2018 
• March 3, 2018 
• March 17, 2018 
• March 31, 2018 
• April 7, 2017 **This is Championships. It is also during Spring Break. 

We will have a mandatory rehearsal Friday, April 6th time TBA. 

Attire/Dress: 

• Up until Thanksgiving break team members are expected to wear something they can move in, such as sweat pants. No Jeans. 
• After Thanksgiving break participants are expected to be wearing all black pants or capris, with all black shirt. 
• Attire must be school appropriate. 

Fees: 

• If you are new the fee for color guard will be $550 total. This will be split up into payments of $100 at the end of each month Oct-Jan, and one payment of $150 in February. 
• If you are returning and not ordering new sweats color guard will be $450. This will be split up into payments of $100 at the end of each month Oct.-Dec, and one payment of $150 in January.

Audition Information

Paperwork: 
§ Commitment sheet needs to be signed and turned in before auditioning. 
§ A copy of 1st term, mid-term grades for eligibility check turned into Coach Irwin before auditions. 

Clinics (on the bridge): 
§ Tuesday, September 26-Friday, September 29 @ 6:30-7:45AM. 
§ Monday, October 2-Thursday, October 5 @ 6:30-7:45AM. 

Auditions (in the gym): 
§ Friday, October 6th @ 3:15P.M. 
§ You need to leave campus between school and auditions. North school doors will be unlocked at 3:00P.M. 
§ You need to wear ALL black for auditions. Girls need to wear fitted pants or capris. Boys are allowed to wear basketball shorts. 
§ Results will be posted on Sunday at 4PM on cjhcolorguard.blogspot.com

Winter guard Information

I hope everyone enjoyed some time off with your kids, and had an opportunity to experience the solar eclipse to some extent. 

Here are the dates that we promised!

We did not plan any official team practices the first week of school. I understand kids may be anxious to start, so if there is interest I am willing to adjust my schedule to meet with those who would like to practice Thursday before school 6:30-7:30am. Otherwise I would like to encourage the kids to enjoy the first week of school!

Schedule:

Mon, Wed, Friday(Aug 28, 30, & Sept 1) @ 6:30-7:45Am.

Friday, (Sept. 1st) @ 3:10-5:00PM.

Wed, Friday(Sep 6, Sep. 8) @ 6:30-7:45AM. 

Assembly Sept. 8th, time TBA. We adjusted our bell schedule, so I will forward info ASAP. 

Audition info coming once everything has been approved. 

I am excited to see the kids again! I enjoy coaching more then performing, and have missed working with the kids during the time off for my training.

                Teacher recommendation letter are due.

                ·       Ask TWO teachers from THIS year.

                ·       One must be a core class (Math, English, Science, or History)

May 5^th    Routine audition order posted

May 12    Weapon auditions starting at 3:30 pm, please arrive outside the gym by 3:15 pm

                Routine portion of leadership auditions following weapon auditions.

                ·       Perform a 1-1.5 minute routine twice 

                  ·       Teach 16 counts of routine in front of judges

                Interview order/time will be posted later that night.

**If you make leadership/weapon line and opt out of summer guard you are required to attend practices in May, and four of our six Fundamental Friday practices in the months of June and July.

Weapon Line Audition Information

Where: CJH gym

Bring: Equipment and wear something you can move in.

What should I know:

            Flag skills: Left and right basics, singles and 1 ½ tosses. Routine

            Rifle skills: Left and right basics, and tosses taught at clinics. Routine

Clinic dates: May 1, 3, 8, 10 on the bridge 6:30-7:45am.

What if I make 2017-18 weapon line?

May 22^nd-July 3^rd practices will be held at the same time as summer guard.

July 7^th- July 21^st practices will be held on Fridays 7-10am.

Grades: 7th-9th in the 2017-18 school year 

Cost: $90 paid in the Centennial office

Includes:                                                                    

·     Three months of training. 

·     An opportunity to be in the Kaysville parade.

·     A T-shirt to wear in the parade and keep.

·     Three days training with Davis High Color Guard Team!
