• ·     Volunteer to do the dishes at least once.
• ·     Come up with at least 2 things that you can improve on for each class.
• o  (ie- Participate more by raising my hand and answering some questions, or not rolling my eyes at the teacher.)

The S.M.A.R.T goals will be due Wed. morning(NO LATER) to allow you to carefully think over your goals.

Davis Cup Homework

For your homework(that is due tomorrow) you will need to write approx. one page paper about Davis Cup. It must include: What you liked the most about the experience, something you noticed/learned about color guard & working as a team, and something that you are going to improve on after watching the high school programs.

The competition has started and will have performances through out the rest of the day.

Davis Cup!!

Davis cup is on Tuesday, you can attend any time after school and 10pm. I apologize I don't have more information at this moment, where I usually receive my info is not updated so I will talk to Mr. Hendricks tomorrow.

Slow me down Flag portion

“Boston” to the front, toaster turn to the left(end with flag @ slam), toss flag over to left. Bottom carve up to one drop spin, & heart. Row-boat, butterfly, turkey to toss prep. Toss, catch, slow carve to tuck under right arm.

Slow me down routine(Dance portion)

I apologize that this isn't very detailed, or does it include counts, but it's the best I could do in the time I had because I had to work.
Dance Portion

Right arm swings over & slight lunge to the left.  Left arm swings over & slight lunge to the right. Key-hole jump to the left(right leg & arm up), weight on right foot & replace left foot to prep for “over the log” jump. After jump pause for one count, swing both arms to right, up and around while taking two large steps(1 RT, 1 LT) then two small steps(1 RT, 1 LT).  Slow “run” down to lunge & then roll over, ending with left leg extended and right leg in. Reach towards foot, bring hands up past head, the backwards summersault. Extend arms back in a circle(RT then LT) ending with hands on head, phase for sec. Roll to ground on left hip, up on left knee, reach up, fold down, grab flag, stand.

July Practices

REMINDER: July practices are Mondays, TUESDAYs, and Wednesdays at the normal time. 
We will start flag pass offs on Friday, PLEASE practice so that we can pass of the entire group.
Drink water, at least 3 glasses of water before guard and 8 glasses of water after guard. Absolutely no soda with the day before or day of the parade. Thanks for working hard!

Spring Clinics To Jump start Summer Camp!!

This year's spring clinic dates are:
Orientation: Monday, April 8 at 3:45pm on the Stage
Clinics: April 9-11(Tuesday-Thursday) and 16-17(Tuesday-Wednesday)  4:00-5:30pm outside.
Mock Auditions: April(Thursday) beginning at 4:00pm in CJH gym

LONE PEAK COMPETITION

CALL TIME: 12:30pm in front of CJH
PERFORMANCE: 3:40pm
The kids will be allowed to leave once they have turned in their uniforms. We are arranging rides there, but not back. If your child needs a ride back please let us know ASAP so that we can make arrangments.

Febuary 16th competition

Feb 2nd competition will take place at Westlake high school.
The kids will perform at 4:26; admission is $5 for adults, $4 for children or students with their ID card, and $20 for a family of five.

Call time is at 12:45pm at Centennial Jr. High School, to load the bus to head to the competition. Their performance will be approx. 4:26pm, but please arrive early because doors close during performances (so if you show up at 4:26pm you will not be able to get in). Also the gym entrance to this competition is outside; please dress appropriate for the weather.

The girls are expected to stay until 7:15pm to support the other guards and to watch the awards, which will take place during dinner break at 6:30-7:15pm. At this point the girls will load the bus again and head home, approx. arrival time is 8:30pm.

Just as a friendly reminder, the girls are not allowed to sit on the front sideline unless an extra wristband purchased has been purchased, if caught doing so our team will be penalized.

Feb 2 Competition

Feb 2nd competition will take place at Northridge high school.
The kids will perform at 4:30, admission is $5 for adults, $4 for children, or students with their ID card, and $20 for a family of five.

Call time is at 1:50pm at Northridge, at this point the girls will come with the staff and we will prepare them to perform. Their performance will be approx. 4:30pm, but please arrive early because doors close during performances(so if you show up at 4:30pm you will not be able to get in).

I've requested that for this competition the kids stay until 5:20pm to watch the rest of the guards in our division and to help fold our floor which will take place during the judges break.

After we've folded the floor everyone(other then captains) are free to leave. If you do plan on taking your child, even if it is just to go to dinner and bring them back, please let Charly, one of her staff members or one of the capains' moms know before leaving to help us keep track of the girls. Thanks!!

For those interested the awards for our division takes place during the dinner break at 6:09-6:50pm, Fairfield performs at 6:50pm, Davis performs at 7:46pm, and Wasatch(the guard Charly is performing with) performs at 8:10pm.

Jan 30- Normal Practice Wed on the bridge
Jan 31- Half-time show(meet on the bridge right after school)
Feb 1- Meet at 7:15am (ready for school) to do a few run throughs before school
         - Assembly performance: Assembly takes place 9:45-10:40am
         -Mandatory practice, normal time

Character Sketch

Your character sketches are due Friday and need to have the following.

• Puppet name
• Personality of your puppet(are they a happy-go-luck type of puppet, or a sad puppet, etc)
• What does your puppet like to do for fun?
• What does your puppet what to accomplish when they are free?
• What "shows" has your puppet been a part of in the past?

Type or write these out and hand them in to Charly by Friday. Thank you!

Updated Dates

The following are additions to the regular schedule:
Jan 24(Thursday), is Davis High School winter guard's parent preview night. PLEASE attend, as it will give you a great opportunity to watch Davis do two runs of their show back to back.
-This is a practice day for Davis as well, so doors will not open until 7:15 pm and the program will start at 7:30 pm.

Jan 29(Tuesday)- Possible half time show at CJH for girls' basketball. Please plan on staying at school until 4:40 pm.

Feb 13(Wed)- This is a mandatory practice right after school until 6 pm with Lyndsie, Davis High School Color Guard adviser.

Practice this week

Reminder that there is an extra practice Thursday(Jan 10) from 3:05pm to 5pm. Please be sure to bring your flag and dress in all black for EVERY practice.

Please bring a white shirt, your light purple cami, and Jeans tomorrow(Jan 9th) for pictures.
Returning members bring last year's so that we can use them for pictures.

Also we WILL be using flags in the morning.
